Graham Smith,
Lay Assistant Liaison
A former Presbyterian, Graham became
a dedicated follower of Jesus in the summer of 1986 after being evangelized by
Catholic Lay missionaries Frank and Genie Summers. Graham, a former Presbyterian, and his wife
Donna, a lifelong Catholic, experienced the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in 1986. They founded the "Good Shepherd
Community," a small charismatic covenant community, in the mid-1980's. Graham became a Catholic in
1991. Graham and Donna have deepen their commitment to Jesus
through extensive training in ministering in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and
in community life in association with the Alleluia Community of Agusta, Georgia.
They then became involved in founding the "Saturday Night High
Praise and Intercession" prayer group for over a decade. Graham
and Donna have attended Our Lady of Fatima parish since 1978. They have three grown children and Graham has
practiced law with the Onebane Law Firm since
1981. Before joining that firm, he was a television journalist in Lafayette and in Dallas - Ft. Worth, San Antonio and Austin, Texas. Graham is also a Navy
veteran and a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now UL at Lafayette) and the University of Texas School of Law. His undergraduate training
was in Applied Music – he plays guitar and sings in his ministries, and also
plays tuba in the Lafayette Concert Band and the Acadian Wind Symphony. He taught a three-night seminar for Catholic
men entitled "A Few Good (Godly) Men Can Change the World!" in St. Vincent in 2003. He now serves as the lay assistant liaison
for the renewal and a major speaker for events and empowerment sessions.
