The Office of Hispanic Ministry promotes the evangelization, opportunities, education and pastoral needs of Hispanics in the Diocese of Lafayette, and is an inspiration and help for parishes to welcome and serve them.
Our Role in the Diocese
· To coordinate liturgies in Spanish in parishes around the Diocese
· To prepare Hispanic Catholics to receive the Sacraments
· To maintain data/statistics of the local Hispanic community
· To refer community members in need of social services to the appropriate agencies
· To serve as a liaison between the Hispanic community and other diocesan offices

Our work extends to Hispanic communities throughout the Diocese of Lafayette, including eight parishes where Masses in Spanish are celebrated on a regular basis. | On May 15, 2011, nine Hispanic teens received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Jules Church in Lafayette. The celebrant was Rev. Jairo Castaño Valencia, SDS, priest-in-residence at St. Jules and Pastoral Coordinator of the Office of Hispanic Ministry (not pictured). The confirmandi are pictured with their catechist, Angélica Malmberg. | On May 29, 2011, ten Hispanic children and teens made their First Communion at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Church Point. The celebrant was Rev. Jairo Castaño Valencia, SDS, priest-in-residence at St. Jules and Pastoral Coordinator of the Office of Hispanic Ministry. Fr.
