SAFE HAVEN SUNDAY
First weekend of Lent
In November 2015, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops published Create in Me a Clean Heart: A Pastoral Response to Pornography in which they explain, “The use of pornography by anyone in the home deprives the home of its role as a safe haven and has negative effects throughout a family’s life and across generations.”
The Diocese of Lafayette is celebrating its third year of Safe Haven Sunday to raise awareness of the negative impacts of pornography on individuals, marriages, and families. During the first weekend of Lent, priests will preach on the harms of pornography and the healing aspect of those addicted to pornography in an appropriate way. They will also inform the congregation on how to safe guard our children from online exposure. Resources to support individuals, marriages, and families will be made available to help make each home a “Safe Haven”.
Our resource site, cleanheart.online/diocese-lafayette-la, has resources for you, whether you are struggling with it yourself, a parent, educator, or a ministry leader.
